The Importance of Compatibility

The Arc of Opportunity's Individualized Supports Program provides 1:1 support in the home and community. By hosting community outings, the program encourages individuals to form healthy relationships with others. An individual’s case manager will often arrange any needed transportation in the community. Through group outings, individuals in the program form meaningful relationships. Building these connections can be difficult or come naturally. However, when people have compatibility and enjoy each other’s company, it is The Arc's priority to ensure friendships are maintained.

Albert and Allen highlight the triumph of friendship. Both share a birthday, mutual love for country music, and good food! To celebrate their recent birthdays, they listened to their favorite tunes on a ride to Parker’s Barn. An iconic spot for maple syrup, Parker's Barn is well known for their extraordinary breakfast located in Mason, NH. Transportation to this location would be difficult for our individuals to arrange. In this situation, one of the case managers in IIHS was able to make the trip possible.

After breakfast, the two stopped to enjoy the view at the nearby Cathedral of the Pines. Cathedral of the Pines is located in Ridge, NH. The park is located on a hilltop with breathtaking panoramic views of the Grand Monadnock. The site features historic monuments honoring the service of men and woman. With opportunities for Allen and Albert grow their friendship, The Arc prioritizes lifelong opportunity by building meaningful connections for those we support.
