The Way of The Arc Champion for May 2017 is Cathy Hamel!

Cathy is a solid teacher to new staff, has such a calm presence, and gets excited about community outings. She is consistent and thoroughly completes the goal tracking sheets with individuals’ progress on their goals. Cathy has also taken steps of coordinating, planning, and implementing community activities with the schedulers, as well as, suggestions for future trips that the individuals would enjoy.

Recently, Cathy was scheduled with a group to do an activity, but due to an incident the trip was delayed. She contacted her supervisor with a new trip suggestion, which was to take the individuals on a train ride. Once approved, Cathy assisted her group to enjoy the activity. When the group returned, they each shared with their peers what an amazing day they had with Cathy.

Cathy has grown to become a positive asset to the CBDES program. She thinks team first and collaborates with her peers in assisting her coworkers as she is known to cover shifts for bussing, transfers, or breaks with no complaints. During mornings, if there are schedule changes, she assists others to adapt to the adjustments. Through her efforts and dedication to the individuals, Cathy has shown us the value and joy in caring for others. I am proud to honor Cathy Hamel for showing us all how important it is to go the extra mile and be relentless about improvement.
