Annual Provider Dinner 2017

The Division of AFC and Shared Homes held their annual provider dinner on October 26th, 2017. The Halloween theme was evident as individuals and caregivers arrived in costume, including staff, who took part in the fun by wearing superhero gear. The hall was decorated with spooky sights, and our nursing students from Fitchburg State University got in on the fun with their group costume as well.

Throughout the evening, caregivers and the individuals they support enjoyed a scrumptious buffet of pasta, pizza, salad and snacks, and a dessert table that left everyone full and happy. New this year was taste testing of a healthy shake recipe created by our own Tim Lapointe. The shakes were delicious and full of fruit and healthy greens (a salad’s worth!). Guests could also take the recipe home to try on their own. The department’s nursing students also presented some healthy eating strategies to the group.

Music was provided by Pat Richard, and many who attended commented on how they enjoyed the music he played (many went up to dance), and he even brought his own Halloween themed décor to add to the festivities. The providers and individuals enjoyed the excitement of our raffle, which included several gift cards donated by local businesses. Caregivers, the individuals they support, as well as staff look forward to this event every year. It gives our caregivers a well-deserved chance to relax, connect with other caregivers and staff, and have fun while enjoying a great meal. It’s just one small way we say “thank you” for the hard work our caregivers perform every day.
