Talking about healthy relationships is important, but is not always easy. This workshop will focus on the unique needs/challenges that caregivers have supporting someone with a disability in establishing healthy relationships (romantic and platonic). This workshop will educate providers on better understanding their role in facilitating these relationships. Learn about your role as a guardian vs natural human rights. As parents, guardians, siblings, friends, and family members, it is crucial to help support such a vulnerable population to live full and healthy lives. Connect with other caregivers who are experiencing simliar difficulties and share your successes.
The acronym “IDD” is used to describe a group that includes either people with both ID and another DD or a group that includes people with ID or another DD. The supports that people with IDD need to meet their goals vary in intensity from intermittent to pervasive.
