John Walsh

John Walsh joined The Arc of Opportunity in North Central Massachusetts board of directors in October 2012. John is very familiar with North Worcester County having spent much of his childhood here and from his professional role with Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC). John is currently the Dean of the Leominster Campus. He has also served as the college’s registrar, admissions director, and initial project director of the FIPSE funded Center for Veteran Student Success.

Prior to joining MWCC, John worked at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) as the coordinator of international admissions and also a capitol campaign gift officer. He has lived and worked extensively overseas. He is a first generation American and was first in his family to earn a baccalaureate degree. John still holds dual citizenship USA/Ireland - European Union.

He is a past board member and vice president of the Central Mass Striders running organization. He is a trustee for the Ric Buxton Memorial Scholarship at Worcester State University and director of the annual Buxton road race. He has completed 3 Boston Marathons as well as numerous other competitive events.
