Heidi's story at The Arc of Opportunity started back in 2011 when she joined as a Direct Service Professional. For three years, she poured her energy into caring for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). However, life took her in a different direction, leading her to explore new opportunities outside the organization.
But Heidi's heart remained tied to serving those with IDD. Memories of the connections she made and lives she touched at The Arc lingered, prompting her return a year ago. Fueled by her unwavering commitment to make a difference, Heidi came back to The Arc of Opportunity.
In her role, Heidi works with a dedicated team at the Day Habilitation program, empowering individuals with IDD to lead fulfilling lives. However, like many organizations, they face challenges, especially when short-staffed. Despite this, Heidi's dedication never wavers. She understands the impact of her work on the lives of those they serve and sees each moment as an opportunity to make a positive difference.
One memory stands out for Heidi: a client who initially struggled to engage with others but blossomed with the team's support. Witnessing this transformation reaffirmed Heidi's belief in the power of compassion and dedicated support.
Heidi's supervisor, Justine, lauded her as one of the most diligent staff members, consistently willing to exceed expectations for the benefit of clients. Heidi's adeptness at fostering robust relationships within the program and providing support to her colleagues renders her indispensable. "Heidi is one of the most dedicated staff members I have had the pleasure of working with. She is always the first to step up and go the extra mile for our clients.
