Attitude of Gratitude

Steven is the embodiment of what a grateful person should be. He shows an attitude of gratitude in many of his experiences. He constantly says, “Thank you” and beams every time someone shows him small acts of kindness. He is very thoughtful and enjoys sharing small gifts such as greeting cards with people that he knows.

Steven loves to sing. He remembers the names of singers when he sings or hears a song and tells staff the singer’s name with delight. Steven loves activities such as word search puzzles, coloring on coloring books, and arts and crafts. He also loves helping people and likes to be the “handyman” at The Arc’s Day program, assisting staff with various tasks. Steven always wears a smile on his face when he performs and completes his tasks.

Steven also loves to show others about his accomplishments. On December 15, 2023, the Development Director at The Arc, Tess MacLean visited the Day program. Steven immediately grabbed her attention to show her the words that he found in his word search puzzle book with such pride and excitement. He read each word as she pointed to each word that he circled on the puzzle and crossed out on the list. Steven beamed when he heard Tess count the total number of words that he found. He smiled and waved goodbye to Tess when she left the room.

The Arc is very blessed to have someone like Steven who models an attitude of gratitude and the ability to show joy and fulfillment in what he accomplishes daily for others to emulate.
