Day Habilitation

The Arc of Opportunity’s Day Habilitation focuses on teachable moments in an environment that inspires personal growth and development for each of our participating individuals. Our goal is for each individual to have a meaningful day with opportunities to socialize, learn, enjoy peer support and have their health needs met in a stimulating and engaging environment.

This is accomplished through a Mass Health-funded medical model that focuses on a variety of therapy combined with clinical supports. A Registered Nurse is available to manage all the medical needs of the individuals, while the rest of our staff combines adult education with occupational and sensorimotor activities.

Therapies

Our Day Habilitation program uses a variety of therapy to create a personal therapeutic plan focused on the individual growth of each person. Therapy may include:

  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Art Therapy
  • Pet Therapy
  • Horticulture

Adult Learning

Day Habilitation offers eight-week courses that combine adult education and therapeutic subjects with occupational and sensorimotor activities. Courses are designed to provide personal growth and development at the individual’s highest level of independence. The Day Habilitation team offers both group activities, as well as individualized activities, depending on the preferences and needs of each person.

Past 8 week courses:

  • Adventure
  • Photography
  • Baking
  • Performing arts.

Clinical & Nursing Supports

The Day Habilitation nurse is available during all program hours to coordinate Day Habilitation services with health care needs such as administering medications and treatments, monitoring and reporting health status, and documenting changes in the condition of an individual to their physician.
