Heather began working at Hannaford Supermarkets in 2014 as a Service Clerk in the Front-End Department. With support from The Arc, Heather’s training went smoothly with high performance during her first 90 days. Once she passed her review, Heather met weekly with The Arc's employment team for an opportunity to discuss questions or concerns and focus on her goal of becoming a cashier. Eventually, with The Arc's support, Heather accomplished her goal with a promotion to Front End Cashier!
Heather’s supervisor Nate mentions, “Heather has made great strides in her time here at Hannaford. She is a very eager, friendly, and hardworking associate within the store. Heather speaks very fondly of The Arc and credits a lot of the success to the help that she receives from the staff. Heather has made many friends from both The Arc and in our store. Everyone here loves working with Heather and she is such a valued member of our team”
Recently, Hannaford started a Best Bagger Competition where staff competes for the best at bagging groceries. Contestant’s bags are judged by weight, style, skill, and time. Heather placed third out of the entire store. She is now in the running to compete at the district level and has a strong chance of winning the grand prize trip to Las Vegas.
“Everyone has been very helpful with my job at Hannaford. The staff at The Arc has always been there to help me with any concerns at work. Between the employment staff and my managers, it helps to know that I have a team to support me through my work,” says Heather.
This month, Hannaford recognized Heather for her five-year milestone with the company. She received her five-year uniform pin and a letter from the CEO appreciating her years of service. Heather has also been a great mentor to her coworker Robby, who also is supported by The Arc and recently employed by Hannaford. On many occasions, Heather offers Robby some pointers and shares the enthusiasm for her work. The Arc of Opportunity applauds Heather's recent and future success.
