Kathleen has spent over 14 years in the human services field. She was first hired as a direct care staff, upon beginning college, working with children disrupting from foster care placements and subjected to removal from inadequate or dangerous living situations with parents or guardians. After a short time, Kathleen progressed to a senior staff position and assisted in creating a team to open a new permanency diagnostics center, assessing youth on a temporary basis for long-term placement options when others were unsuccessful.
After a few years, she accepted a supervisory position working in a rehabilitative residential environment with the juvenile offender population in Western Massachusetts. There she assisted in structuring a co-ed therapeutic living program for recidivist juvenile offenders recently out of incarceration where staff were supported in integrating the Psychoeducational Model (PEM) into the environment, greatly reducing offender violent behaviors and increasing success outside of residential placement.
Despite her diverse background in human services, she gravitated toward the population of those fostering developmental challenges when she was offered the opportunity to oversee two residential programs for adults and children with physical and intellectual disabilities as well autism, brain injury, and mental health challenges.
Kathleen began with The Arc of Opportunity in December of 2012 and began in the role of Division Director of the North Central Residential Division before accepting the role of Division Director of Residential Supports, overseeing homes serving both the ID/DD population as well as Acquired Brain Injury programs and opened the first home serving individuals with ABI in December of 2017.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, NH, a Professional Certificate of Nonprofit Management through SUNY Purchase College and is currently pursuing her MHA.
