Self Advocacy
  • Overview

We are looking for folks, with or without disabilities, who would like to become members of our Self-advocacy group. Group members learn to advocate for themselves and/or advise and assist others to become a strong voice.

Group members tell what the group means to them:

It is standing up for our rights and learning to speak up for ourselves. (self-advocate David B.)

Talking about our human rights. No one has the right to take away your personal things. It is helping people with learning disabilities talk about and solve problems. (self-advocate Sheila F.)

a group that helps each other to stand up for themselves and others. (facilitator Aleidy V.)

fighting for rights and dignity. (facilitator Lisa C.)

If you are 16 or older, this may be the group for you.
