The Arc of Opportunity is searching for willing individuals, couples and families who are open to supporting a person with intellectual or developmental disabilities in their home. This life changing decision can impact your family unit as well as the person who is seeking a place to call home, for the better.
We provide services to Worcester County, MA and have participants desperately seeking a loving and safe home throughout the county. If you feel like you would be able to be caring, nurturing and flexible with someone new coming into your home-this may be a perfect fit for you! As an agency we provide numerous support both pre-placement and throughout your caregiving journey. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY- the only thing you need to bring to the table is a caring, stable environment.
The primary caregiver is expected to bring the consumer to doctor’s appointments and assist in community integration. As a caregiver some responsibilities may include assistance or supervision in dressing/changing, toileting, meal prep, med assistance, budgeting etc.
As a caregiver you will receive:
- 24- Hour emergency on-call assistance
- A monthly stipend
- Monthly in-home visits from a Care Manager
- Training on home safety skills, medication management, and First Aid/CPR
To be considered as a caregiver you must have:
- Valid Drivers License
- An extra bedroom in your home
- Your own vehicle
- First Aid/CPR or willingness to obtain
- The ability to pass a CORI/Background check
*Special consideration (but not mandatory) is made for those with a handicapped accessible home, or the willingness to allow home modifications. This is including but not limited to ramps, chair lift and/or grab bars.
