When Good Things Grow

It can be fun to watch good things grow. Take, for instance, a flower; or our Friendly Flowers enterprise here at The Arc of Opportunity, which delivers fresh floral arrangements weekly. We’ve watched steady growth with that enterprise—which at times can feel almost like a time lapse video—thanks in no small part to the sunlight of support from our community.

D’Ambrosio Eye Care, a supporter of Friendly Flowers, recently took the initiative to help foster such further growth. Planning to raise funds to purchase additional flower deliveries, the friendly staff at D’Ambrosio in Lancaster promoted a “Jeans Day” fundraiser, allowing employees to wear jeans to work on certain days in exchange for a contribution to the cause.

We were thrilled when they informed us of this initiative, which raised more than $250, plenty to purchase several sessions of weekly flower deliveries, to be shared and enjoyed by staff.

The fundraising initiative was put in place to do more than purchase additional flowers, though. “The goal was to make folks aware of Friendly Flowers and The Arc of Opportunity,” said Jude Seppa of D’Ambrosio, who added: “The flowers are gorgeous!”

More awareness of Friendly Flowers means more growth, more orders, and more flowers for everyone, sure, but it also means more opportunity for fulfilling employment to the many individuals we support here at The Arc of Opportunity.

When we find the right conditions, use the right elements, nurture, and tend to our items for growth, be they flowers or opportunities for meaningful employment in our community, good things can grow before your eyes.

Just watch.
