The Arc of Opportunity has had the pleasure of working with Chartwell’s Dining Services at Fitchburg State University for the past eight years. The Arc strives to make long term relationships with area businesses in order to make the most successful job matches for both the individual and employer. The partnership between Chartwells and The Arc of Opportunity has resulted in serving over 50 individuals with vocational evaluations in areas of dishwashing, maintenance, food preparation and customer service. Chartwell’s staff serves as role models for these employees in showing them good work ethics and teaching them skills to be successful in the food industry. Through these evaluations, Chartwell’s has hired several part and full time employees.
To date, Chartwells employs 15 individuals who have been referred by The Arc of Opportunity. We also support Chartwells with group employment where individuals work in a group setting with a supervisor, getting ready for the next step which would be an independent placement.
Chartwells is committed to working side by side with employees hired from The Arc of Opportunity who may require extra guidance on the job. By helping each employee recognize their accomplishments, they foster a sense of growth as well as personal and vocational satisfaction. Chartwells recognizes that people can work and make an impact in their community and in the workforce. The individuals are able to work in the communities they live in and contribute back to their communities as independent, tax paying citizens.
