Donor hopes gift of $600K will inspire others to give and close the gap!

Arc Community Services receives major gift from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts

Fitchburg, Mass – Arc Community Services’ capital campaign has received a significant boost, thanks to a $600,000 gift from the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts.

 In making the announcement, Phil Grzewinski, president of the Community Foundation of North Central Massachusetts, noted that this is one of the largest gifts the foundation has ever made from a donor-advised fund.

 “The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, wants to see the project completed so that Arc Community Services can continue to provide vital services to those with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families,” Grzewinski said.

 “This is an incredible donation; it will ensure that we can complete the project,” said Mary Heafy, President and CEO of the Alliance for Resource Management at Arc Community Services.

 Heafy said that completing the renovation will provide the individuals we support with a modern and fully accessible facility. The renovated facility will provide production space for job training to prepare individuals with disabilities for jobs in the community, will establish a family resource center to support families to learn about and advocate for supports for their family member throughout the lifespan, and will create a career center for job seekers with disabilities.  The organization provides advocacy, education, employment, residential and recreational services for persons with disabilities.
