Cheryl Robillard – Employee Recognition

Cheryl exemplifies the teamwork we all talk about as being so important to the needs of this agency.  She has a can-do attitude and is willing to jump in to help any individual, staff, or program that might benefit from her assistance.  While setting a high standard of excellence for her own work performance, she always finds time and energy to go beyond the requirements of her job description to make things better for someone else.

As a recent case in point, our Family Support Division has long done an annual Giving Tree.  With the loss of our Family Support Program Director due to budget cuts this year, that project was quite a challenge.  Cheryl recognized the challenge, realized it was a pressing need, and stepped in gracefully to help.  She took the project a step further and expanded it so that the people in her Community Based Day Support programs could participate in the project.  With the assistance of her enthusiastic staff, they helped the people from the Community Based Day Supports programs set up trees at local banks, collect gifts as part of their schedule, and even deliver gifts in one circumstance.  This was a positive experience for both the Giving Tree project and the individuals in the Community Based Day Support programs.  A large gap in the Family Support program was filled and the individuals were provided the opportunity to be involved, participate, and give back to their community.

In addition, Cheryl gave much of her own time to help.  She spent countless hours sorting, tagging, shopping, and wrapping gifts, to ensure that all gifts went to the right child and no child was forgotten.  Cheryl also coordinated the food baskets given to the families.  Cheryl stepped out and beyond the requirements of her job and she serves as a role model to the agency while offering many other positive qualities of leadership.  For this reason, I nominate Cheryl Robillard as Employee of the Month for December 2010.
