OLVER ANNOUNCES HOUSE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE APPROVES $300,000 FOR FITCHBURG ARC BUILDING
July 22, 2010
NEWS from Congressman John W. Olver
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Yesterday, the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee approved $300,000 for the renovation of the ARC 564 Main Street Building in Fitchburg, MA. ARC Community Services is a non-profit agency in Fitchburg that provides a wide variety of critical support services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The renovation of the Main Street building will increase program space, update mechanical systems, add a passenger elevator and make the building completely handicapped accessible.
“ARC has provided crucial support services to over 500 individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in the community,” said Congressman John Olver. “This funding will allow ARC to continue its good work by giving them a space that is modern and accessible,” Olver added.
“This funding plays a pivotal role in advancing the renovations of our building. When the renovations are finished, new doors will open – literally and figuratively – for individuals with disabilities and their families. I am grateful to Congressman Olver and his staff for their deep commitment to the needs of people with disabilities in our community,” said Mary Heafy, President/CEO, Alliance for Resource Management at Arc Community Services.
The FY 2011 Transportation HUD Appropriations Bill now awaits consideration by the full House and Senate.
